Trek Top Fuel 9.9

Trek’s latest addition to its bike collection is the 2009 Trek Top Fuel 9.9 SSL full-suspension racing machine. If you watched Lance Armstrong’s last two winning comeback races, you would have noticed him riding the 9.9 SSL. There are six different bikes in this series and it begins with the Reba-forked Top Fuel 8 and goes up to SSL World Cup edition.

This bike is speedy for racing and comes with smooth handling like a trail bike. When you go over bumps, this bike remains balanced and stable. The 9.9 SSL bike geometry is specifically designed for tough riders. At 22 lbs, this bike is light and smooth and has top-notch acceleration.

The Trek Top Fuel 9.9 SSL is a bit cautious at first, but it quickly accelerates at top speed. The light weight and the thin tires that cause this and all bike riders know that tires can easily be changed. But once you hit those tricky trails, this bike will make you feel at ease. One of the best features of this bike is the Full Floater suspension as it offers great control.

The new 2009 Top Fuel comes with a Cross Bow OCLV carbon fiber frame that features a “seat mast.” This new frame allows for an increase in suspension travel (10mm to 100mm). It also comes with full alloy pivot hardware and all-carbon integrated bottom bracket. By getting rid of threaded metallic cups on the bottom bracket, the bike is now lightweight overall.

This bike isn’t just made for winning a race. With a few tire and handlebar tweaks, the Top Fuel 9.9 SSL can turn into a trail bike that’s as light as a feather.
