Cheapest Mountain Bikes

If you are looking for a sport accessible and suitable for all ages and abilities then look no further than mountain biking. There are bikes to suit all budgets so I’ve put together reviews of the best, cheapest mountain bikes I could find on the web. The links follow the rest of this article.

I’m not saying cheapest is always best but if you take notice of the following tips I hope that you will buy the right bike to suit your needs and more importantly, your budget.

Tip 1 Selling the cheapest mountain bikes is what the big box stores now do best. If you are going to be a casual cyclist then these bikes may suit you. Be very aware though that the first time you take a big box store bike onto rough terrain it will more than likely fall apart!

Tip 2 A great tip is to get down to you local dealer and take a few mountain bikes out for a test ride. Remember you don’t have to buy the bike there and then and more often than not you’ll get a better deal on line. Take the bike up hill, try out the gears, the suspension, and the all important brakes. If you have found a bike you like barter with the dealer to see if they will swap out the components you don’t like, you’ll more than likely a get a better bike to suit your needs.

Tip 3 Ok, so you’ve only got a budget of $200. I’ve reviewed few great sub $200 bikes below. But really think about getting something at the $300 level if you can at all afford it. In my experience entry level mountain bikes at the $300 price point offer far much more value than their sub $200 counterparts.

The cheapest mountain bikes aren’t always the best, and of course you already knew that. But there a few decent entry levels bikes in and around the $200 to $300 level so I really hope you can get a great bike that suits you and your wallet.
